María José joined Barbosa Abogados as partner in 2015. She is specialized in corporate, finance, antitrust, a wide range of business contracts, and compliance.
Over the years she has advised both international and local clients in connection with regulatory matters associated with their businesses, including on antitrust and compliance matters. She has conducted and managed filings with the Argentine Antitrust Commission and due diligence processes. She has also advised local and foreign companies in connection with financial and commercial transactions, reorganizations, acquisitions, divestitures and other corporate governance and day-to-day matters.
Before joining Barbosa Abogados, she was senior associate at Marval, between 2000 and 2006, she worked as a foreign associate at Bingham McCutchen LLP (f/k/a Bingham Dana LLP), in Boston, USA. Prior to her experience in Boston, between 1996 through 1998, she worked as a lawyer at Naveira & Truffat, a local boutique firm specialized in debt restructuring and bankruptcy matters in Buenos Aires Argentina..
She graduated from the Law School of the Catholic University of Argentina (UCA), in 1995. She obtained a Master in Laws (LL.M.) in Banking and Finance Law from Boston University School of Law, in 1999.
María José has recently completed the course to obtain the certification in Ethics & Compliance from CEMA University and the Argentine Association of Ethics and Compliance (AAEC). The certification is expected December 2014.
She has published articles and law review papers in Argentina and abroad.
She is a member of the Buenos Aires Bar Association and the Boston University Alumni Association.
